Sgt. Sullivans Letter to Tallahassee Classifications.

To: Classification Department

I, Penny Sullivan, am a former Sergeant at Dade Correctional Institution where I worked in the Transitonal Care Unit. I am writing this letter in regards to Inmate William Westervelt DC# 138254. In 2016, while working at Dade C.I. prison, I was attacked by an inmate. Inmate Westervelt played an intricate part in helping me during the attack. Inmate Westervelt immediately came to my rescue by assisting other inmates to get the attacker off me. Once the aHacker was off of me, Inmate Westervelt assisted me to my feet and escorted me to the responding staff.

During my tenure at Dade C.I., I can remember Inmate Westervelt as being very respectful and has never given me a problem whatsoever. Whenever I asked Inmate Westervelt to do anything, he did it without any hesitation. I am requesting that you consider Inmate Westervelt’s request into a transition program. I feel that he should be to given a chance to prove that he is a changed individual with a good heart. In closing , I will forever be grateful to Inmate Westervelt and his heroic actions helping a female Correctional officer in dire need.

Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.

Best Regards,

Former Sgt. P. Sullivan
